For every issue, the London-based biannual magazine travels to a new city and works with local talent to get a snapshot of life in that place.
Their Athens journey covers a broad range of Athens experiences: from a short documentary on Fast Friday, Athens' weekly night rides to locals’ tips about the best spots or a real Greek wedding.
Travelling to Athens, the Boat writers were skeptical of finding anything remotely positive or optimistic to write about, but they were proven wrong, writes editor Erin Spens. What did they find?
"Athens has its fair share of doom and gloom, but it also has the fantastic Greek sense of community from which to draw strength, pride, and verve. If there is a people out there who can get over this road full of hurdles, I do believe it’s the Greek people. And if there’s a city that’s worthy of sitting at the helm of their progress, it’s Athens," the issue’s intro writes.
