"Greece is already on the next day" Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said yesterday from Brussels, adding that Greece’s sacrifices were fully recognised and an extension of its fiscal adjustment programme was officially announced. He further noted that only "technical details" now remain before funding could be released.

The premier, who travelled to Brussels to attend a 'Friends of Cohesion' meeting on the next National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), also emphasised the need for growth, stressing that the EU Funds will continue to make a valuable contribution to the recovery of the Greek economy in the coming years.

While in Brussels, Samaras also held talks with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, as well as his counterparts from Slovenia, Malta, Slovakia, Romania and Estonia in view of a special meeting of the European Council to be held on November 22-23 on the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014-2020.
