  • A Tribute to Glenn Gould @ Onassis Cultural Centre
The Onassis Cultural Centre is hosting a series of events in association with the Canadian Embassy in Athens to mark the 80th anniversary of the birth, and 30th of the death, of the great Canadian pianist, Glenn Gould. The tribute includes a round-table discussion about Gould’s complex relationship with the concert hall and the recording studio, the screening of a film this often enigmatic genius, and the presentation of a new book on Gould translated into Greek as well as a concert featuring Marika Bournaki, on November 22.
  • Opera for Children
The well-known fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood, by Charles Perrault, is being staged, in the form of a children’s opera at the National Opera, till April 28, 2013.

The music is composed by the American Seymour Barab. In this version, Little Red Riding Hood manages to neutralize the wolf by speaking to him about sweets and pastries. Directed by Dimitris Karantzas.

West Coast Jazz Tribute

George Kontrafouris, a musician with an international career and a leading figure of his generation in the Greek jazz scene presents, today (November 15) at the B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music, a unique performance dedicated to the West Coast Jazz and its unique sound with references to Lee Konitz, Chet Baker, Warne Marsh, and Art Pepper, among others.
