Greece has improved its standing from 89th position to 78th (out of 185 countries measured), in terms of reforming business regulation practices, according to the 10th edition of the Doing Business annual report for 2013, published by the World Bank.
Greece is among the 10 economies that improved the most in the Doing Business report in the past year.
Part of the solution to high debt is the recovery of economic growth, and there is broad recognition that creating a friendlier environment for entrepreneurs is central to this goal, the report notes. Greece has shown progress in three areas measured, namely, in dealing with construction permits, protecting investors, and resolving insolvency. First published in 2003 with 5 indicator sets measuring business regulation in 133 economies, the report has grown into an annual publication covering 11 indicator sets and 185 economies.
