The 5th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art opened its doors on June 23 and will run until September 30, in Thessaloniki. Themed “Old Intersections-Make it New,” the current edition of the Biennale focuses on the region of the Mediterranean Sea. A total of 44 artists and one collective of artists from 25 countries around the world will exhibit their work, including new works commissioned for the occasion. Apart from the main exhibition, the programme includes six other exhibitions, as well as projects like the 4th Thessaloniki Performance Festival and the 5th Young Artists’ Workshop.

  • The Girl & The Boy @ Athens Concert Hall Garden
Seventeen-year old singer Areti Kosmidou and singer-composer-actor Dimitris Samolis will perform in the garden of the Athens Concert Hall, on June 30. In their show, The Girl, The Boy & The Garden, the two young artists and representatives of the younger generation of Greek pop, will play songs from their new albums.

  • Nafplion Festival
The Nafplion Festival, which celebrates 24 years of existence, is running in the picturesque town of Nafplio until June 28. The festival features acclaimed international artists such as the excellent Austrian quartet Ensemble Wien, the innovative group Chicago Consort, the famous for its virtuosity Trio Vuillaume from France, along with established Greek artists like the pianist Thanasis Apostolopoulos, internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano Irini Karayanni and others. What’s more? The monumental sites of Nafplion, such as the imposing Palamidi Castle and the historical Vouleftikon, serve as the backdrop for beautiful music.

  • Lemontrees in Poros
The Citronne Gallery on the island of Poros, housed in an 18th century building that is an austere example of island architecture, celebrates its ten years on the island, after art historian Tatiana Spinari-Pollalis decided to settle in. The name of the gallery refers to Poros' well-known Lemon Grove described in Kosmas Politis’s novel of the 1930s. The exhibition opened in June 20 and will run through September 7. The exhibition will subsequently move to France, to be showcased on the premises of OECD’s seat in Paris.
