As part of the events marking Thessaloniki 2014 European Youth Capital, the municipality of Thessaloniki along with the British Council and the Navarino Network, held a conference on March 20, to discuss Thessaloniki’s potential to position itself as an international education hub.
The conference presented the Greek experience in internationalizing higher education, with special emphasis on the Thessaloniki context; it identified the issues which hamper the influx of international students and the prospects for growth in the internationalization of education. Examples of good practice in countries that have succeeded in becoming world education hubs were also studied, taking the UK as a case study.
