The exhibition "Youth of Athens" by Portuguese photographer Pauliana V. Pimentel runs at the Melina Cultural Center of the City of Athens from February 14 to March 9.
Pimentel had visited Athens during the 2012 parliamentary elections and tried to depict the portrait of the city’s youth and at the same time bring to the surface the various paradoxes of the cradle of "ancient civilization, democracy and philosophy." Her photographs and videos feature those modern-day heroes that try to best of things struggling between reality, illusion, fear and uncertainty.
The exhibition is organized by the City of Athens, the Embassy of Portugal in Greece, and Galeria das Salgadeiras, with the support of the Embassy of Greece in Lisbon and the General Secretariat for Youth. Following Lisbon and Athens, it will travel to Istanbul and Brussels.
