Shipping and Aegean Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis outlined yesterday the priorities of the Greek EU Presidency on shipping and maritime transport for the European Parliament's Transport and Tourism (TRAN) committee. He emphasised preserving the competitiveness of EU shipping, blue growth and the creation of new jobs in the maritime industry. 

Moreover, he referred to the legal initiatives that will be undertaken by the Greek EU presidency and including the Marine Equipment Directive, the Regulation on the multi-annual funding of European Maritime Safety Agency and the Directive on Maritime Spatial Planning. “The Greek EU Presidency will also thoroughly examine the proposed regulation on market access to port services and financial transparency of ports,” he added.
