A free German-speaking magazine on Greece was launched on January 2. Griechenland 2013 features useful information and tips on planning a Greek vacation and is available online.
It offers information both on destinations and sightseeing, as well as tips on various activities, dining and entertainment.
The project is sponsored by the ferryboat companies Minoan Lines and ANEK Lines, and NEPTUNE hotels.

- Greek-German Civil Society Cooperation
In an effort to boost civil society cooperation to tackle the European crisis, Greek and German citizen groups have formed the Greek-German Civil Society Cooperation (GGSC) scheme. The initiative was launched following the 1st Greek-German Civil Society Actors Meeting, held on November 14-16 in Thessaloniki.
Participants identified youth unemployment as a prevalent problem with the most significant social impact in times of crisis and proposed a number of initiatives, including lifelong learning, training and volunteering. Those involved in the initiative are also working towards launching a special online platform to enhance awareness and cooperation between civil society actors in the two countries.

- Filotimo in German
For the title of his second book about Greece, Deffner has chosen what is considered the most untranslatable word of the Greek language: filotimo, literally meaning "friend of honour", but with a multitude of meanings and connotations for the average Greek, which the writer playfully defines as "two or three positive thoughts, a litre of joy of life, 500 grams of hospitality, a whole ripe friendship, ten drops of helpfulness, a little pride, dignity and sense of duty."
