  • San Francisco Film Festival
The 9th Annual San Francisco Greek Film Festival is already under way, until May 13, with screenings of eighteen 2012 Greek films.

For the first time this year, the festival introduces two People’s Choice Awards, for short and feature film categories, to be announced on the final day.

The festival’s closing night is dedicated to the recently departed Greek actor Thanassis Veggos. Two of Veggos’ classics will be screened, while a Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to a member of his family, who will join the ceremony.  
  • Berlin Greek Film Screenings
Screenings for the Berlin New Greek Cinema Festival, organized by the Berlin branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Greek Film Centre, continue until May 30. A total of thirteen Greek movies, produced from 2009 to 2012 will be screened at the German capital’s Arsenal cinema. The festival opened on the weekend of May 4-5, with director Yorgos Lanthimos presenting his award-winning films Alps and Dogtooth, while, on May 10, Athina-Rachel Tsangaris joined the Festival for the official German release of internationally acclaimed Attenberg.
