Greece in Italy
A series of events to promote Modern Greek language, literature and culture is hosted at Venice’s Ca’ Foscari University from March 27 to April 18.
Titled Greeks and Greek Language in Venice 2012 and under the heading We Invest In Greek Culture, the festival features lectures and conferences on the poetry of Odysseas Elytis and Andreas Calvos, and the novels of Menis Koumantareas and Nasos Vaghenas, the latter being keynote speaker.
The events are organized by the University’s Greek language and Literature Department in collaboration with the Greek General consulate in Venice and the Greek Cultural Foundation of Italy.

Italian actor, director and screenwriter, Roberto Benigni will be inaugurated as Honorary Lecturer of the Italian Language and Literature Department at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on April 4. The multi-awarded Italian artist will be honoured for his contribution to Italian and European culture. At the ceremony, to be held at the University’s Events Audotorium, Benigni will present a lecture/interpretation of the XI canto of Dante’s Inferno from Divine Comedy.
