The European Commission is preparing a package of measures aimed at boosting growth and reducing unemployment in Greece, the head of EU Task Force for Greece, Horst Reichenbach, said yesterday during a press conference, presenting its quarterly report.
Reichenbach said that a total of €14.5 billion is at Greece’s disposal, out of which 4 billion can be allocated this year to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), € 2 billion in grants and the rest in the form of loans from the European Investment Bank.

Moreover, the head of the Task Forced appeared optimistic regarding the country’s prospects, saying that it is now making a "new start" on firm grounds, after the successful outcome of the PSI and the eradication of most uncertainties surrounding the second bailout package.
Meanwhile, ways to accelerate large investment projects in Greece and support SMEs were the focus of talks between Greek Development minister Anna Diamantopoulou and European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn, in Brussels yesterday. In a separate development, Diamantopoulou ordered, on March 15, that the ministry's entire private investment directorate, involving several dozen employees, be replaced and audited after two of its members were arrested on bribery charges.
