Important distinctions were awarded to Greek students of Mathematics at the 6th South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (SEEMOUS) held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, on March 6-11. The Greek team -one out of a total of 24 that participated -won 2 gold medals, 5 silver and 1 bronze. Greece thus finished 2nd in the country ranking, while the University of Athens secured top position among universities.

Greece was represented by the six-member Olympic team which includes 5 students from the Mathematics Department of the National and Kapodististrian University of Athens (EKPA) and one from the Electronics Engineering Department of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), one three-member team, from EKPA and one team from Democritus University of Thrace. In Blagoevgrad, it was decided that SEEMOUS 2013 will be held in Greece.
