Greek-Australian artist Michael Zavros won this year’s Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in Australia.

One of the most prestigious, and definitely the most lucrative portrait award in the world, the Doug Moran Portrait Prize was established in 1988 to celebrate Australia’s bicentenary and is given annually to the best portraitist by an Australian painter.

Zavros winner painting titled Phoebe is Dead / McQueen is a portrait of the artist’s five-year-old daughter and was chosen among 650 entries.
