The Greek participation in the 12th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice (Biennale) was inaugurated on August 27.

Titled The Ark: Old Seeds for New Cultures, the project attempts to examine the relation between architecture on one hand and landscape, cultivation and agriculture on the other.

Greek Commisioners Zissis Kotionis and Phoebe Giannisi have designed the ark, which can accommodate visitors, and also store and archive a movable seed and plant bank. The construction is accompanied by a multidimensional exhibition of visual and textual material that seeks to investigate new standards in an era of sustainable development. The exhibition runs until November 21.
