The new archaeological park of watermills opened its doors in Polichni, Thessaloniki on September 20, after fourteen years of excavation and restoration work.

The park encloses three 12th-13th century mid-Byzantine era watermills that were part of the city’s extensive medieval water supply system. Renowned Byzantine expert and former president of the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne Hélène Glykatzi-Ahrweiler inaugurated the site.
