The dream of having a symbolic wedding ceremony in Greece is a fast growing trend among North and Latin Americans, Europeans and Asians.

In the eyes of thousands of couples, tying the knot in Greece is the most romantic place to celebrate their nuptials. And they are doing it more and more!

Even before the 2008 “Mama Mia” musical (video) smash hit - filmed on the island of Skopelos in the Sporades group of islands - dozens of couples had been photographed in their wedding attire somewhere in Greece.

Various Greek and foreign travel agencies organise entire ceremonies, which are complemented by an idyllic stay for the couple and their guests.

The couple’s arrival in Greece is combined with an extended stay, and this can be considered a specialized category of thematic tourism.

These visitors include citizens from India, South Korea, China, Argentina and Brazil, to name a few. The most popular islands hosting these weddings include Santorini, Mykonos, and of course, Skopelos.
