Held to coincide with the UN International Day of Democracy, the third, expanded Athens Democracy Forum, hosted by the International New York Times and the United Nations Democracy Fund, will take place on September 13-15 at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre and the Stoa of Attalos of the Ancient Agora, bringing together diplomats, scholars, corporate executives, politicians, thought-leaders and journalists from around the world. In an era of global uncertainty, the state of liberal democracies and
the major challenges they face nowadays will be the among the majors
issues discussed.
In addition to the main conference on September 15, a selection of optional affiliated events, tours and debates will be offered, including an international student debate at the Old Parliament, a Google Hangout featuring political activists under house arrest and a symphonic visual concert by Rufus Wainwright at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Last but not least, a special limited edition titled “GREECE IS – Democracy” was published by "Kathimerini" in collaboration with Greek and foreign renowned academics and journalists.
