The renewed and expanded Animasyros 8.0 International Animation Festival & Agora returns to Hermoupolis, on the island of Syros, from September 24 to 27. The programme includes distinct competition sections for animated shorts, world and European premieres of long-anticipated features, retrospectives and tributes to well-established animators and fellow festivals, educative workshops, the annual professionals’ forum and lots of satellite events focusing on the art of animation.
In this year’s program, a brand new section is introduced, consisting exclusively of animated feature films, acting as the pilot for an upcoming competitive branch. Animasyros also launches the section Agora market which aims to become a hub for creative professional networking, targeting the development of partnerships and synergies among animation professionals around the world. Εvents are free to the public and take place at the majestic Apollo Theatre, the Hermoupolis Cultural Centre, the University of the Aegean premises, the central Miaouli Square as well as in other venues. The annual Festival, which is the largest of its kind in Greece and amongst the most important globally, began in 2008.
