Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs Nikos Chountis, and European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid & Crisis Management Christos Stylianides, will mark the beginning of the European Year for Development 2015 (EYD2015) today, (March 6), at the Foreign Ministry.

The EYD2015 is dedicated to raising European citizen awareness on the commitment of the EU and its member states to eradicating poverty throughout the world. The motto of the campaign is Our World, our Dignity, our Future.

Greece is contributing to raising public awareness on human development through various events, including seminars, conferences, cultural and sporting events.

An event [in Greek] dedicated to International Women's Day, titled Empowering Women and Girls through Education, is being held by the European Parliament Office and the European Commission Representation in Athens today, in the framework to the European Year for Development and Cooperation with third countries. The vent will be broadcast through live streaming.
