The world of the Ancient Greeks, with their legendary gods, fabled heroes and mythical creatures has been inspiring board game designers around the world to create a host of popular games drawing from their perennially loved tales and legends:
The Cyclades board game involves players vying for the favour of the Gods in order to conquer or develop areas in the Cyclades islands; Creekos is a trick-taking card game that pits two partnerships of two players against one another, first in an auction to determine the power of their cards, then in the card play itself; the Age of Mythology transports players to a time when heroes fought with legendary monsters and sought the assistance of their gods, who intervened in mortal affairs, to flatten enemy towns with meteors or scatter opposing troops with lightning storms; Olympus is a non-random strategy game, based on worker-placement, resource management and building an efficient engine to score victory points (VPs), with each player leads a city-state; and in Hera and Zeus, players are opposing gods bent on destroying each other because each kidnapped the other's favorite mortal.
