The Greek diaspora in the United States is very familiar with the subject of the exhibition currently on display at Seattle’s Museum of History and Industry. The history of Greek-owned diners in the United States - a business as old as the Greek American Community - is being hosted in partnership with the Greek-American Historical Museum of Washington State. "Restaurants represent the intersection of Greek food, culture, and entrepreneurship, and the profession of choice for many Greeks who put down roots in the area. But beyond the menu, Greek traits were still evident and relationships were the key. Greek traditions of hospitality and building lasting connections with patrons combined to create a code of business that elevates customers to friends."
The exhibition "A place at the table - Over 100 Years of Greek Restaurants, Culture and the Entrepreneurial Spirit" opened earlier this month and runs through May 31.
