Travelers describe Elafonissi as "paradise on earth" with wild nature protected by "Natura 2000," unique flowers and volcanic rocks, "a little Caribbean, perfect for romance!" Meanwhile, Egremnoi (Lefkada), Myrtos (Kefalonia) and Navagio (Zakynthos) beaches made it on the top 100.
It is noted that in the annual report for bathing quality water that was published on May 27 by the European Environment Agency (EAA), over two thousand beaches in Greece were monitored and 93.2% fulfilled the conditions which are classified as "excellent quality," placing Greece 5th in the 28-member European Union.
