Qatar Airways will launch a daily, year-round Athens to New York flight announced the airline’s CEO Akbar Al Baker, on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of Qatar Airways’ service in Greece.


The new flight will be inaugurated in mid-June 2013. Al Baker added that Greece is an important market for the company and that Qatar has expressed its strong commitment for investments in Greece. Qatar Airways added Athens to its rapidly-growing international network in mid-June 2005 with the launch of non-stop scheduled flights from Doha to the Greek capital.

Athens is a hub for 31 European destinations of the Qatar Airways network of itineraries. The Athens-Doha flight has become the top destination, in absolute numbers, at the Athens International Airport, surpassing the airport’s New York destination.
