The landmark industrial site of FOUGARO in Nafplion opened its doors to the public in late October as a venue for creativity and expression, bringing thus life to the site of a former tomato cannery. FOUGARO -which literally means chimney stack- boasts an exhibition hall, an Arts and Humanities library, a concert hall, an art workshop, a café and The ArtShop.
The person behind the FOUGARO project is Florica Kyriacopoulos, a renowned art collector, journalist and businesswoman, who now fulfills her lifelong dream to enrich the cultural scene of Nafplion with a venue exclusively dedicated to creativity.
FOUGARO currently hosts an exhibition headed Craft Fair #1 showcasing an inspired selection of handmade design objects by 56 artists and designers from Greece and Cyprus.
The exhibition, a veritable explosion of texture and colour, is curated by Dimitris Xanthoulis and will be on display until December 29. FOUGARO -only 2km away from the city centre- is definitely a must-see site during a short break in this lovely city of the Peloponnese.
