The "Vagonetto" - Fokis Mining Park in the prefecture of Fokida -one of the most spectacular theme parks in Europe, certainly unique in Greece- offers a simulation of daily life in a miners’ community and showcases how minerals apply to our everyday life. Using cutting-edge audiovisual equipment -available in six languages,- visitors have the opportunity to discover how people mined bauxite from earth, more than a century ago.
The actual tour takes place in underground Mine Gallery 850, the very same that operated more than 50 years ago. By embarking on vagonetto, the noisy little train that commuted miners deep into the mountain, visitors "follow" the miners’ footsteps in a journey in time. The "Vagonetto" Park is located between two mountains, Parnassus and Ghiona at a short distance from the renowned site of Delphi and the village of Arachova.
