The awarding of the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union is an act of recognition of the consolidation of peace in European continent, Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos commented upon the announcement of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, on October 12.
However sorely tried the country is by the economic crisis, the FM continued, Greece will always continue to greatly contribute to the European endeavour for a "united, cohesive, strong, democratic and prosperous Europe that is standing by all its citizens on the front line of our common European course."
