"Μιλώ Ελληνικά/SpeakGreek", a new free online speech training tool for learners of Greek as a foreign/second language produced by the Phonetics Laboratory, School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, will be presented in one-day event at the university’s Research Dissemination Center, on October 24.

The tool has been carefully designed for simplicity and user-friendliness. The graphical user interface provides different options suitable for different age groups (children and adults) and learning preferences.

The design enables both independent use by an individual, but also together with a language teacher, speech and language therapist or researcher. "SpeakGreek" provides training on the perception and production of sounds, stress, intonation and rhythm of Greek. It is the first free online biofeedback speech training tool for Greek.
It is anticipated to benefit different social groups, e.g. the growing number of people learning Greek as a foreign/second language in Greece and abroad, children with speech or hearing disorders in mainstream and special schools. Its development is based on large-scale research, anticipated to add to the current knowledge-base on Greek phonetics.
