Little Paris of Athens 2015
The "Little Paris of Athens 2015" festival, organized by the Athens Art Network action group and the Cultural, Youth and Sports Organisation of the City of Athens, takes place for the third consecutive year with a variety of events, involving more than 500 artists, paying tribute to the culture, intellectual and artistic rebirth that flourished in the coffee bars, bistros, underground music halls, and cabarets of Paris during the war and in its aftermath.
The Festival will run from October 8 to 18, in central Athens area, where most streets have French names; an area where popular culture meets Greek folklore as well as the cultures of immigrant communities, travelers and visitors.
This year’s programme includes concerts, art and photo exhibitions, street art and performances, talks, educational programmes, guided tours and games. For 10 days, artists, musicians, performers, writers and educators will present their work in 30 selected venues, on streets, squares, theatres, conservatories, schools, galleries, cafes, cinemas and other alternative spaces, whilst visitors will have the opportunity to hear music from Paris, Brittany, Athens, Istanbul, Naples, Berlin, Lisbon, Havana, New York, Mexico and Buenos Aires.
9th Greek Documentary Festival Doc-Fest
The 9th edition of the Greek Documentary Festival of Chalkida Doc-Fest will be held on Oct. 13-18 in Chalkida. As a competitive festival, its goal is to support the creative Greek documentary film industry, by bringing together and presenting the annual output of Greek documentary productions to a wider audience, and supporting independent film-makers.
The official programme includes 35 documentary films, while 20 other documentaries will be screened within the framework of tributes to important Greek film makers. This year’s festival also pays homage to modern Argentinean Documentaries. Alongside screening, parallel events held include conferences, book presentations, masterclasses, concerts, exhibitions, seminars and workshops.
Thessaloniki International Short Film Festival
Thessaloniki International Short Film Festival (TiSFF) opens its doors on October 9 and runs through October 13 at the Cultural Centre Alexander.
Launched 9 years ago, it has evolved into an ideal platform for directors eager to capture the processes of change around us at all levels-social, political and personal. The festival offers a medium of expression to artists around the world, staging and promoting new ideas and trends in cinema.
New creators, as well as established film makers are projecting snips of the future in Thessaloniki. This year, 945 films were submitted, of which 100 films were selected for screening.

5th Spetses mini Marathon
One of the most popular sporting events in Greece, the Spetses mini Marathon, will take place for the fifth consecutive year on the island of Spetses from October 9 – 11; more than 10,000 people are expected to take part.
For 2015, 8 races have been scheduled, while a series of anniversary events will be organized to celebrate the marathon’s 5 years, such as a user-generated video contest named "SMM 5 Years Experience" on Facebook, a Spetsiot Treats night as well as a spectacular SMM Champions Award Ceremony, aiming to highlight the natural and architectural beauty as well as the rich culture of Spetses.
