"Lobster" on screen in Athens

The film "Lobster" by Yorgos Lanthimos will make its official premiere in Athens on October 22. The first English-language film by Lanthimos, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, won the Jury Prize at the 68th Cannes Film Festival

The film is set in a dystopian near future, where single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they must either find a romantic partner in forty-five days or be transformed into beasts and sent off into The Woods. In that setting, one man escapes into The Woods and falls in love with a woman, despite the rules of the Loners.

"MAMA MIA" comes to Greece

The world’s No. 1 musical ΜΑΜΜΑ ΜΙΑ comes home! The show will be presented in Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki Concert Hall) from Oct. 21 to Nov. 1 and in Athens (Badminton Theatre) from Nov. 5 to 15. 

The story unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter decides to discover the identity of her father and her quest brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago, her three possible dads.

The songs of ABBA create an enchanting tale of love, joy and friendship that drives audiences all over the world to have the time of their lives!

"Forest Forever" exhibition at Fougaro

Fougaro the Gallery Nafplio hosts the international Patchwork exhibition "Forest Forever", featuring 60 pieces by European artists. A cultural collaboration between European and Afghan women, the exhibition was first showcased in September 2014 and has been touring Europe ever since.

Forest Forever is part of the "Guldusi" programme that has already significantly improved the lives of 200 Afghan families. Through this initiative, the Afghan women participating have been able to effectively contribute to their families’ income while using or learning their traditional embroidery techniques.

The exhibition will run from October 17 to November 15. 

Gypsy Jazz Festival

On Oct. 16-18, Djangofest Athens returns to the park of Lampidona in Vironas for the biggest celebration of gypsy jazz in Athens.

Since 2010, when the 1st Djangofest was held, the festival has managed to embrace and be embraced by an audience which is growing every year, giving gypsy jazz its due place in Greece’s musical landscape.

More than ten bands will participate in the festival, which will include live music, dance, story-telling, an exhibition of handmade musical instruments and much more! 

"Swan Lake" Ballet

The Moscow Ballet will be performing the all-time classic "Swan Lake" at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre from Oct, 22 to Nov. 10.

Featuring music by Tchaikovsky, the popular ballet premiered at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 1877 and has since never lost its first place in the hearts of audiences around the world.
