For the third consecutive year, Naxos, the largest of the Cyclades islands, is hosting its annual Naxos Mountain Bike Race on October 18. It is a technically challenging 20km race, consisting of a demanding route that runs almost entirely on dirt tracks, but also going through areas of singular natural beauty and past some of the island’s most significant heritage sites.

The race begins and ends at the village of Sagri – a listed settlement, while participants will see along the way monuments such as the 17th-century Timios Stavros Monastery and Apaliros Castle, in addition to the mountains, valleys, olive groves and picturesque villages.

The race includes a less taxing 10km route for teenagers, while off-road enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy a quick downhill 1300-metre stretch with loose rocks and a technical pass through a river bed. Register until October 16 and enjoy a race along Naxos’ majestic landscape which you will never forget!
