It was a great weekend for Greek water polo, as both women’s and men’s teams won bronze in the in Baku 2015 1st European Games. On Saturday (20 June), the women’s team won bronze, following a tight encounter with Italy (7-8) (video). The men’s team followed suit on Sunday with an 11-10 victory over Croatia (video). Among the day’s highlights was Nikolaos Delagrammatikas’ superb long-range goal (video).

Thus far, the Greek national water polo teams have won a total of 41 medals in various international sporting events, including 10 gold, 12 silver and 19 bronze, making Greece a major player in the sport.
