In December 2015, world leaders will gather in Paris for the 2015 UN climate change negotiations, in order “to achieve for the first time in over 20 years of UN negotiations, a binding and universal agreement on climate, from all the nations of the world”, according to UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.

Ahead of this COP 21 Conference in Paris, and in order to bring forward the views and voices of citizens from around the world, a series of large-scale citizen consultations take place globally on the same day, as part of the initiative World Wide Views on Climate & Energy. As a global project, it aspired to involve 10,000 citizens in 104 countries, with mission accomplished on June 6.

This global initiative was again tested in 2012 on the subject of biodiversity, and again in 2009 on global warming. The results of the Greek citizen consultation process, the Athens WWViews, will be presented on June 24 on the premises of the Bank of Greece. The Greek initiative is supported by the Mariolopoulos Foundation for the Environmental Sciencies.
