Data protection, migration and the fight against terrorism form the agenda for this week's Justice and Home Affairs Council that is being held in Luxembourg on June 15-16.

Today, justice ministers will focus on a general approach on data protection regulation to be negotiated with the European Parliament, in order to agree the final text of the regulation. Tomorrow (16.06), EU Justice Ministers will discuss the migration proposals tabled by the European Commission last month, following the migratory crisis in the Mediterranean. The ministers will follow up to the European April 23rd Council statement on migration, which resulted in four priority areas of action to stop further loss of life at sea.
