Thanasis Kiriakidis, a 17-year old high-school student from Kavala is the winner of the European translation competition 2014 Juvenes Translatores that took place on November 2014.
Kiriakidis’performance was remarkable, since he translated the given texts without using a dictionary. More than 3000 students from 740 European high schools took part in the competition, which involved translating texts on European identity. 

The DG Translation provided the schools with the texts to be translated, evaluated the translations and chose one winning translation from each EU Member State. Winners will receive their awards at a ceremony in Brussels on April 16, 2015.
