Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras attended a ceremony yesterday that took place on board the Chinese Fleet docked at Piraeus for the celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year. He was received by Admiral Zhang Chuan Shu. In his short speech, the admiral welcomed the Greek premier and praised Greece for evacuating Chinese citizens from Libya a year ago.

Tsipras wished the Chinese people a happy New Year and spoke of the strong historic ties between the two nations. He noted that the Greek government will support Chinese investments at the port of Piraeus, including COSCO, and want to make a name for the port of Piraeus as a top hub globally, in transport and commerce; he underlined that he will seek to expand Greek and Chinese cooperation. • Chinese Products Certified by Greek Body
MIRTEC is the only Greek Certification Body with its own laboratories for testing and analysis of materials and products. It cooperates with technological centres, institutes, universities and industries for certification and quality control of manufactured products.

Recently, MIRTEC, which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Development signed an agreement with the Chinese CQM (Chinese Quality Mark Certification Group) for mutual cooperation in the field of certification.

The agreement is important because the Greek body will be responsible for certifying all Chinese products entering the European Union through the port of Piraeus and accordingly, CQM will certify all EU products heading to China.  Greek News Agenda: Med’s 3rd Largest in Container Traffic
