The Biopolitics International Organisation (BIO) informs and inspires people worldwide to take urgent and concerted environmental action. It was founded by Biology Professor Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis, in 1985 and now boasts an extensive network of supporters and affiliates (leading representatives, academics, diplomats, civic and business leaders and institutions) in 165 countries. The organisation advocates the fundamental human right to live in a clean environment and brings attention to biopolicy as a means to guarantee global environmental harmony and just economic growth.
On November 11, BIO held its last annual event called: "Inspiring Climate Change Mitigation Policy." Addressing the conference, Prof. Arvanitis said that "time remains the most crucial element. If we do not hear the ticking clock, then we are ethically responsible for the damages and problems we delegate to future generations. Leadership with a vision is essential for bios [life] to survive and prosper."
