Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Ioannis Maniatis attended the Energy and Economic Summit that was held in Istanbul on November 20-21. The Greek Energy Minister noted that Greece was giving priority to three energy projects: the Southern Corridor and the construction of TAP (Trans-Adriatic Pipeline), the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria Pipeline and the East Med pipeline. Maniatis further elaborated on the initiative to create a vertical gas transport axis that would link Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary and underlined the significance of EU funding of facilities and regional cooperation that are crucial for the continent’s energy security.

Maniatis also met with his Turkish counterpart Taner Yildiz and presented Greece’s stance on the issue of the Cyprus EEZ.
