Greece's European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos represented the European Union at the an EU-US Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Meeting held in Washington, focusing chiefly on migration issues.

On the sidelines of the meeting, he had meetings with U.S. Deputy Secretary for Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and Latvian Interior Minister Rihards Korlovskis. Latvia is the next EU member-state that will take over the rotating EU Council presidency. Avramopoulos also stood in for European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Jourova, meeting the U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder.
