Looking for ideas on what to do in the City of Athens? Wondering about which museums to visit on a tight schedule, or where to eat as part of your quest for a new gastronomic experience? A new, online guide has been published by the Guardian and titled "Athens city guide: where to stay, eat, drink, and more" highlights the "best of Athens," and is penned by Feargus O’Sullivan (14.09).
Offering a fresh look on somewhat lesser known museums, the "what to do" section, The Guardian highlights the Benaki Museum – Pireos St. Annex, in the Gazi district that hosts some of Athens’ best contemporary art exhibitions. Another option is the Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery, which reopened to the public two years ago and includes a beautifully laid-out three-floor survey of mid-century Greek art and culture. Other must-sees on this list include the Philopappos Hill Park and the Athens Central Market, which has maintained its traditional character.
