The International Documentary Film Festival AegeanDocs 2014 is already in progress in Lesvos, Chios, Samos and other islands of the northern Aegean as of September 20 and will run through September 28. The festival opened with the screening of “The Act of Killing” by Joshua Oppenheimer, which won the best documentary at the 2014 Bafta Awards.

The 54 documentaries selected by the festival’s committee to participate in the official, competition programme represent the artistic creation from 27 countries; from Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, United States, Chile, Peru, Argentina and India. There will further be guest films, retrospectives on famous directors, workshops, master classes, Q&A with the invited directors.

AegeanDocs festival, which is being held for the second year, bestows four awards: Best History Documentary, Best Political Documentary, Best Social Documentary and the Special Award for Young Filmmaker.
