The 49th Dimitria, one of Thessaloniki’s most important cultural events, is opening its doors on September 25 and will run through October 29.

This year’s edition is a rich, dense, and interactive, aesthetic exploration of the city’s artistic genres and makes the best of three new municipal buildings, each with unique characteristics, namely the former Maison Crystal, Sfageia (Abattoirs), and Villa Petridi.

Founded in 1998, Dimitria is a celebration in the name of St Dimitrios, the city’s Protector and Patron and has its roots in 12th century Byzantine Thessaloniki, as a mark of devotion towards the patron Saint.
