The 12th World Public Forum on Dialogue of Civilizations was held on the island of Rhodes, from September 25 to 29; this year’s motto is "Preventing World War through Global Solidarity: 100 years on" and is commemorating the 100th anniversary of WWI. More than 400 participants from 65 countries attended the event.

Opening speeches were delivered by Czech President Milos Zeman, Infrastructure Minister Michalis Chryssohoidis, German politician and head of the German-Russian forum Matthias Platzeck, Shaikha Dheya bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa member of the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the World Forum founding president Vladimir Yakunin.

The main issues on the agenda were the crisis in Ukraine, the problems in the Middle East and the threat of the Islamic State.
