The Economist is holding a 2-day event opening today (5-6.05) in Athens, titled:"Europe and the Arab World: Strengthening Political, Business and Investment Ties."Under the auspices of the Greek EU Presidency and the League of Arab States, the meeting focuses on the European – Arab political and business relations, the importance of the Mediterranean Region in connecting Europe and the Arab world and energy, tourism, transportation and infrastructure strategies and projects in the region. 

The EU’s objective is to assist the Arab region’s economies and foster progress which will have a positive impact on the longer term stability and prosperity. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Evangelos Venizelos is one of the keynote speakers.
