The Municipality of Nafplio is holding its first "Nafplio Marathon" race on March 23 in cooperation with Argolis prefecture and Harvard University's Centre for Hellenic Studies and the Hellenic Association of Amateur Athletics (SEGAS). The city is a little gem, a seaport town situated on the gulf of Argolis.

Runners will have the chance to enjoy the city that was the first capital of the newly born Greek state - between 1823 and 1834, and will pass all the archaeological sites of the wider area.

The organisers' aim is to turn the race into the third largest Marathon race in the country, with the participation of athletes from Greece and abroad and promote Nafplio into a sports, cultural and tourism destination.
