On February 13, Development and Competitiveness Minister Costis Hatzidakis inaugurated a new logistics centre built by the supermarket chaiν Lidl Hellas in Attica's Kalyvia region, calling it a "vote of confidence in Greece's economy." The minister said that the investment was important for the government and the country since it supported both employment and exports, confirming that Greece can become the most important logistics hub for SE Europe. He stressed that the company's new distribution centre in Attica and its even larger twin in Thessaloniki represented an investment of €130 million that would create 250 new jobs.

Lidl Hellas chief Georg Kroell, on his part, stressed that the company was "here to stay," expressing his faith in the country and its people as reflected by the company's investments.
