Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos has concluded a two-day official visit to Moldova, ahead of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras’ visit to the country. The minister met with his Moldovan counterpart Vitalie Marinuta met on February 11. Avramopoulos reiterated Greece’s support to Moldova's European prospect and discussed the further development of bilateral relations, especially on military cooperation.

In his statement, Marinuta noted that since 1995 members of the armed forces of his country have been trained in Greece adding that "military staff is preparing to depart for the KFOR mission in Kosovo under the command of a Moldovan Colonel who graduated from the Hellenic Army Academy. Avramopoulos was also received by the Modovan President Nikolae Timofti, the Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and the President of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Corman.
