The first bioclimatic school is being inaugurated on Monday, December 23 in the Sykies area of Thessaloniki, built for minimal energy consumption and maximum savings as its key features. The 8th Primary School of Sykies' building makes better use of the sun during winter time, whereas structural interventions have been made for space heating and strong insulation, with fewer openings as protection from the cold and architectural interventions for better ventilation.

The school covers all the modern pedagogical criteria and includes six classrooms as well as a library, computer rooms, and spaces serving cultural and artistic events and sports. Located in Sykies Municipality, the building has been constructed by the School Buildings Organisation with a budget of €4.5 million. The Neapoli-Sykies Municipality announced that plans for the construction of three more bioclimatic schools are being examined.
