The Onassis Foundation is expected to invest the sum of € 30 million to the Hellenic Investment Fund, was announced on November 20, following a meeting between the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and the foundation's president Antonis Papadimitriou. Also attending the meeting was Development Minister Costis Hadjidakis.
Speaking to the press, the premier hailed the foundation’s support, adding that its contribution will boost liquidity in the market. Papadimitriou noted that the Hellenic Investment Fund will boost growth and employment through the reinforcement of small and medium sized enterprises. "The Onassis Foundation is pleased to be the first private entity that will support the Fund hoping that Greece and its economy will recover," Papadimitriou said.
The European Investment Bank and the German bank KfW have also signed memoranda of understanding with the Greek government, for participating in the Fund.
