An evening of poetry and music in memory of Seamus Heaney (1939-2013) will take place at the new Acropolis Museum on November 29. Emeritus Professor of Greek at Trinity College, Dublin John Dillon will speak on "Seamus Heaney and the Heritage of Greece," whereas poems by the Nobel laureate and friend of Greece will be read by the poet Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke in her translations and by the poet Yiorgos Chouliaras in the original. Musician and musicologist Spyros Zambelis will sing two Heaney songs on the lyre. Irish music will be performed by musician and ethnomusicologist Labri Giotto.The event is organised by the Embassy of Ireland in cooperation with the Irish Institute of Hellenic Studies at Athens.
